Take the freeway Firenze-Siena direction towards Siena
Exit Poggibonsi Nord
Follow the indication to San Gimignano (12 Km about).

From the South:
Motorway A1 Milano-Roma to the North
Exit Valdichiana and follow the indication towards Siena
Take the Motorway Siena-Firenze towards Firenze
Exit Poggibonsi Exit Poggibonsi NordFollow the indication to San Gimignano (12 Km about).

By Car from pisa airport, the shorter route
From Pisa airport take the  Firenze-Pisa-Livorno communication route towards Firenze
Exit Pontedera Est (the second exit!)
Follow the indication to Peccioli/Forcoli
Turn left to Forcoli, pass trough the town and follow the indication to Montaione/Castelfalfi/San Vivaldo.
Follow San Vivaldo(it’s such a countryside road) and the indication to San Gimignano.

By Car from Pisa airport, the longer route
From Pisa airport take the  Firenze-Pisa-Livorno communication route towards Firenze
Exit Empoli Ovest
Follow the indication to Certaldo/Castelfiorentino
Once in Certaldo follow the indication to San Gimignano

By car from the Florence airport
From the airport Firenze Peretola follow the indication to the Motorway A1
From Firenze North take direction to Roma
On the A1 Exit Firenze Impruneta
From the Motorway Firenze-Siena take the exit Poggibonsi North
Follow the indication to San Gimignano (12 Km about)

By car from Rome airport
From the airport of Rome take the motorway A12-E80 and follow the indication to Grosseto northern direction
In Grosseto take the motorway junction Grosseto-Siena towards Siena
In Siena take the motorway Siena- Firenze, direction Firenze
Exit Poggibonsi  North
Follow the indication to San Gimignano (12 Km about)

By bus
The buses line service connects San Gimignano to Florence, Siena and Poggibonsi. It is possible to reach San Gimignano:

From Florence
Bus Station is in front of the railway station Santa Maria Novella, Via Santa Caterina
Take autobus which stop in Poggibonsi to get the connection to San Gimignano (railway station stop

From Siena:
departure terminal in Siena are in piazza La Lizza, near the historical centre. Choose buses going to San Gimignano or Poggibonsi where you always have to change connection to San Gimignano( stop at the railway station).

By train
The nearest railway station is in Poggibonsi and you can go there by 15 minutes bus.
Trains connect Poggibonsi to the south and the north directions and towns.
Once you reach Poggibonsi  you take  the bus to reach San Gimignano.

To park in San Gimignano
In the historical centre of San Gimignano, UNESCO mondial heritage, park inside is forbidden. Only resident with the police authorisation can enter the historical centre.
Tourists can enter only if they have authorisation for 15 minutes.
Igor and Andrea don’t suggest to park inside when you are arriving or leaving with the car.
San Gimignano is better without the car!
La Mezzana Rossa offers the opportunity to park inside the public parking of San Gimignano or in parking places outside the walls of the town.

Check point

Arriving by car
The check point of the Mezzana Rossa finds outside the historical centre where our parents live, in G. Matteotti street,7- Santa Chiara.
Immediately after the indication to the historical centre  after 200m there will be a wide bend, turn immediately on the left, in Matteotti street (you will find through the brawn sign street) you stop at number 7 and ring the bell.
We will bring you to the apartment and show you the parking areas.

Arriving by car from Pisa or Certaldo YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS:
A)You can stop and phone and we will arrive where you are
B)after the sign San Gimignano you continue in direction city centre

Arriving by bus from Poggibonsi
Arriving by bus, you can stop at “Porta San Giovanni”, near the parking site N. 2 “Montemaggio” and call us. We will arrive and bring you to our apartments

Arriving by train from Poggibonsi:
Arriving by train you have to take a bus to reach  San Gimignano, so you can follow the above indication

Parking in San Gimignano
There are 4 public parking sites in San Gimignano.
Parking N.1 “Giubileo”, N. 2 “Montemaggio”, N.3 “Bagnaia superiore”, N.4 “Bagnaia inferiore” each one is controlled.
The parking N.1, southern direction is the bigger and cheaper. If you park there with the reservation of a room you can use the City Bus for free and reach the centre, 5 minutes by feet. Parking N.2 “Montemaggio” is the nearest to the centre, so the more expensive, it finds outside Porta San Giovanni.
Parking N.3 and N.4 are located in the northern part and the nearest to La Mezzana Rossa and Piazza Sant’ Agostino, the cloister, the new civic museums of San Gimignano, the contemporary art gallery Raffaele De Grada”, la “Spezieria di Santa Fina” Patron Saint of the town, the archaeological museum and the town hall library with its historical archive.

City Bus
Tourists and resident use city bus to move from a place to another either in the centre or outside, to reach the parking areas. Tuorist can visit and discover the treasure of San Gimignano, simply walking through its squares and narrow streets but if you prefer it’s also possible to enjoy the city bus service.
Guest of our apartments can use it for free from the parking N.1 at your arrival.
The city bus carefully covers all the parking areas and the terminal is at the parking N.1 “Giubileo”.
The nearest stops to La Mezzana Rossa are: in the Sant’Agostino square (not all the journeys) Porta San Matteo (300m from our apartments, all the journeys).
